Giving Back on Mandela Day
It was an early start as we made our way to the Sozo Foundation but luckily the rain stayed away and we were graced with blue skies and sun! Together with the Sozonites and our amazing volunteers and activity leaders, we celebrated our beloved Madiba by giving back to the community and adding some joy to the lives of others!
The morning was jam packed with various activity stations! Beautiful beads and bedazzled picture frames were made to give to loved one's and there was also a planting station where butter lettuce was given new roots. At our food station, we were able to make enough sandwiches and cupcakes to donate to both the Claremont and District Six Haven - well done Sisanda Team!
After all the activities we built up quite an appetite and we headed to the Rodeo Spur in Claremont for a much needed break. After our burgers and ice cream, we were refueled and ready to ten pin bowl! This proved to be lots of fun and there were some misses and strikes but lots of smiles!
And of course, no day is complete without a little Madiba Jive! So, our energetic activity leaders, Nkulee, Thuso, Vusi and Bonga showed us how it's done and we all left with some new dance moves!
