Our Youth Day Carnival on Saturday the 15th of June 2013 at St Joseph's Convalescent Hospital was a wonderful time with the beautiful St Joseph's children! We were so excited to bring cheer, excitement and FUN to these children in their place of recovery in the form of a large and very interactive game fair.
Armed with a packet to be filled, a booklet of tickets and large smiles, the children set off with their volunteers to have their faces painted, get a balloon animal made, meet some of our special guests and make some new friends.
The day was visited by a princess, a dragon, a dinosaur, a cow and Eeyore and the children enjoyed roaring along with the dragon and giving the princess a kiss. We also had the pleasure of an interactive Magician with his white winged side kick. Our dress up section was a huge hit with hats, accessories and fancy dress before piling into the photo booth for photo time!
From jumping castles, fresh-popping popcorn, seedling potting, cupcake decorating, sporting skills and a host of games including pop-a-prize, hoop shoot, tyre toss, go fish and lucky dip to name a few, the children had a marvelous time winning prizes, treats and Sisanda Funny Money which could be exchanged for more toys and prizes at our Treasure Store.
For lunch, the Spur team was on site providing delicious hot-off-the-grill Spur burgers to eagerly awaiting tummies.
Seeing the children having a blast with their volunteers was such an amazing and heart-warming site made only better by watching the tired-out children carried to their beds for nap time, tucked in with their carnival 'stash' nestled snugly next to them.
