Sisanda FunDaytion strives for a world in which all children can experience the joy of being children and we are passionate about the potential of play. We believe in equality and inclusion and each individuals unique potential. Enabling environments in which children and youth can learn about themselves, each other and the world they live in; can grow self-love, empathy and a curious aspiration for the future. 

There are barriers for many

Challenges facing many children in South Africa are enormous
South Africa boasts some of the world’s most spectacular attractions but most of the children who live here aren’t aware of this. Many children face persistent burdens like sickness, extreme poverty and escalating violence and crime that force them to grow up too quickly, without experiencing the simple pleasures that make most children happy: fresh air, smiles, hugs, and opportunities to play and laugh out loud.
 
Children lack diverse experiences 
Vulnerable children in our townships very rarely get the opportunity to learn, play and grow in different environments, with new people or in new ways. The result can contribute towards poor mental health with undeveloped social and emotional skills, specifically lack of confidence, limited aspiration for the future and inability to engage with different people. 
 
Children lack inspirational positive role models
These same children so often lack a connection with inspirational, caring role models who they can learn from. Many adults and young people who are revered lack the skills on how to connect and nurture a child's development.
 
It is every child’s right to PLAY!
Fun and relaxed environments make learning far easier and more enduring.  Play is widely recognised as being a vital component of every child’s development and well-being and is a enshrined in international and South African law as a right of every child. 

Play is as much for adults as it is for children
Play reduces stress, games build relationships and laughter allows creativity to thrive.
